Custom Search by sportswire4u.blogspot.com (Balbir) CHANDIGARH, JULY 19 Haryana (cluster III), Sikkim (Cluster II) , Puducherry (Cluster IV) and Uttar Pradesh (Cluster I) qualified for quarter-finals league in the 9th Junior National Girls Under-19 Football Championship being hosted by the Chandigarh Football Association at the Punjab Engineering College grounds here today. In today's preliminary cluster matches, Haryana beat Mizoram by 4-1, Jharkhand routed Chandigarh 10-0, Puducherry outplayed Bihar by 4-1, Uttar Pradesh prevailed over Tamil Nadu by 2-1, Sikkim steamrolled Himachal Pradesh by 30-0 and Goa got the better of Kerala by 3-1. Sikkim and Goa were tied with seven points each,with two victories and one draw apiece. However, Sikkim edged out Goa on the basis of better goal average. A 30-0 verdict against Himachal Pradesh this evening tilted the balance in favour of Sikkim who hve scored 36 goals and conceded one. Goa scored 28 goals and conceded two. Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh finished their cluster I league programme with one victory each, three points each and even the goal average was the same (3-3). According to Match Commissioner DS Bisht, since UP beat Tamil Nadu, the former were declared qualified. With Madhya Pradesh left for home yesterday without waiting for today's outcome, only UP and Tamil Nadu were left in the fray from cluster I. Uttar Pradesh owed their triumph and entry into quarter-final to Kanchan Batham who scored in the 19th and 66th minutes. M Sathya scored for Tamil Nadu in the 58th minute. Puducherry emerged Cluster IV leaders with seven points. In their last cluster fixture, they outplayed Bihar by 4-1. K Indumathi was their top scorer with three points -- 57th, 61st and 76th minutes. S Pradeepa scored in the 78th minute for Puducherry. Bihar were the first to score in the first minute through Savitha Kumari. Haryana completed their cluster III programme with six full points by defeating Mizoram by 4-1 in their crucial match. Haryana had earlier routed Gujarat by 29-0 in their opening match. Today, Haryana forged ahead in the 15th minute through Sonia. Preeti doubled the margin with a goal in the 39th minute. Then it was Taruna's turn. She scored in the 39th and 73rd minutes to make it 4-0 for Haryana. Lalsong reduced the margin for Mizoram in the 75th minute. Anokhi Marundi gave an impressing start by scoring six goals as Jharkhand routed Chandigarh by 10-0. Anokhi struck in the 8th, 38th, 57th, 59th, 62nd, 77th minutes. Nagi Marandi netted three goals -- 40th, 60th and 64th minutes. Shweta Kumar contributed one goal in the 27th minute. Chandigarh lost all their three cluster matches and are out of the race for quarter-final. Tomorrow's fixtures: Cluster V: Karnataka vs Orissa (7 a.m). Cluster VI: Manipur vs Delhi (7 a.m.). Cluster VII: Maharashtra vs Assam (9 a.m.). Cluster VIII: Tripura vs Rajasthan (3.30 p.m.), West Bengal vs Punjab (3.30 p.m.).
